Google Maps rank tracking for plumbers

Your van covers several towns, but Google Maps doesn’t rank you the same everywhere. Once a month, LocalQuiver runs one search, such as boiler repair, from a grid of points around your base, as if a customer were standing at each one. You see where you’re top three and where you disappear.

You’re top 3 for “plumber near me” across the centre of Newark. A few fresh reviews will push you out to the villages you cover.

How it works for plumbers

01

One phrase that pays

Choose the search that brings the work you want, whether that’s emergency plumber, boiler installation or heating engineer. The map tracks that one phrase every month, so you’re measuring the jobs that matter rather than a term that only flatters you.

02

Coloured pins, plain answers

Every point gets a pin coloured by your position. Alongside it you see your average and best position, a visibility percentage, how many points put you in the top three or top ten, and the spots where you don’t appear at all.

03

Who’s beating you, and where

Pick any point to see who outranks you there, and check the top-competitor table for the firms that keep turning up. It shows whether one rival is quietly taking the calls on the far side of town while you’re busy on your own doorstep.

04

A trend, not a snapshot

Past scans are kept, so each month sits beside the last, with a trend line against the month before. A short plain-English read suggests two or three things to do next, so the map leads to action rather than just a nice picture.

The 1st of the month at Ashmere Plumbing

Strong at home, invisible across the river

Jake has always assumed Ashmere Plumbing shows up everywhere he works. The first rank map for ‘emergency plumber’ says otherwise: strong positions around his yard, then a patch on the far side of the river where he doesn’t appear at all and two newer firms lead. He starts asking customers over there for reviews and makes sure his Google description mentions the area. Next month’s scan will sit beside this one, so he can see whether anything has moved.

An illustration of how it works, not a real customer.

The film

Three self-contained chapters: a monthly Google Maps scan from a grid of points around the business, a monthly check of whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name it, and a monthly head-to-head with the local rivals it picks. It works the same way for plumbers.

0:01Where you show up on Google Maps depends on where your customer is standing.

0:06So once a month, we run your key search from a grid of points around your business, as if a customer were standing at each one.

0:13You see where you're top three, where you don't appear at all, who beats you at each point, and two or three plain-English things to do next.

0:24Customers can now ask AI assistants where to go, too.

0:28Once a month, we put up to four of your customers' questions to ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, each answering from live web results.

0:37You see whether you're named, how high, and who's named instead. Nobody can buy a recommendation, but now you'll know where you stand.

0:48And how do you stack up against your local rivals?

0:52Pick them from Google, and every month we check their rating and review count, new reviews, how often they reply, what customers praise and complain about, their AI visibility and map position.

1:04Then it's all set beside yours, head to head, so you can see where you're ahead, and where they're pulling away.

1:12LocalQuiver. Your marketing, sorted.

Questions

The map follows one phrase, re-scanned each month, so it pays to pick the search that brings your most valuable work. That might be a boiler repair or installation phrase rather than just ‘plumber’. We’ll talk it through with you when we set it up.

The standard grid is 5 by 5, which is 25 points spaced 1 km apart around your business. LocalQuiver can set a tighter 3 by 3 or a wider 7 by 7, with spacing anywhere from half a kilometre to 2 km, to fit how far your vans go.

Not by itself. The map measures, it doesn’t act. What it gives you is a clear view of where you’re weak, so your reviews, Google profile and website articles can be aimed at the right places. Search work takes months, not days, and nobody can promise a map position.

Book a free chat and we'll show you how it would work for your plumber, set up and running for you.
